3-D Modeling

"As a teacher a variety of experience in 3D CAD software like Tinkercad, SketchUp, Fusion 360, and Onshape, I understand that while interfaces may evolve, the core concepts of 3D modeling remain constant. My industry background brings a unique blend of technical skills, creative problem-solving, and critical thinking to the classroom. As an artist, I emphasize the importance of thinking in shapes and forms, further enriching the technical foundation. I am passionate about teaching these programs to students, believing it fosters inquiry-based learning and empowers them to bring their creative visions to life."

Benefits of Model Making & Architecture in High School

  • Develops spatial reasoning & problem-solving skills valuable in engineering, design, and math.

  • Enhances creativity & hands-on learning through model building.

  • Connects to real-world applications like urban planning and construction.

  • Teaches collaboration & communication through teamwork on projects.

Overall, a well-rounded experience that prepares students for future careers and fosters a deeper understanding of the world.

Architecture

Upper School students used the design process to imagine, develop, execute, and exhibit models. Students designed 3-D models with SketchUp and concept design models with chipboard, balsa wood and other basic architectural modeling materials.

Two projects ate featured.

Project                           Challenge

1)Tiny homes               Must be under 400 square feet

2) School design          A structure that is "not a box"
